Where Can I Use Softwood Posts?

Softwood posts are ideal for using as fence and gate posts because they are easy to handle and can be concreted in easily using something like Postcrete. When fixing anything to the posts it’s important that any metal fixings are stainless steel. This makes sure the fixings don’t rust and you don’t get blue staining on the wood from where the timber reacts with the metal. Our posts are available in 3x3 and 4x4 sections sizes in 8ft lengths. These are industry standard sizes that are used across the UK.

The treatment process these posts go through enables them to be used outside and protects them from rot, infestation and fungi. Even though they are treated you still need to protect the parts of the timber that are in contact with the ground, you can do this by concreting them in, fixing them into metal shoes or by standing them on something like a staddle stone.

What are the Advantages of using Pressure Treated Softwood?

Pressure Treated Softwood Posts are cost effective because they are a cheaper perishable timber like Pine or Redwood, which are then converted to have more durable properties. This means they are: lightweight and easy to work with, cheaper than more naturally durable timbers and can be used straight away without you needing to treat them further.
